Towards solving PDE governed engineering problems using PINN

Many engineering problems can be governed by Partial differential Equations (PDE), such as inverse problems, multi-physics couplings/interactions (Piezoelectric semiconducting structures, etc. Here, Physics-informed neural network (PINN) has been applied to solve the problem considering initial conditions and constitutive equations rather than by traditional numerical methods.

AI-assisted reconstruction of structural defects using ultrasonic guided waves

Data-driven quantitative defect reconstructions using ultrasonic guided waves has recently demonstrated great potential in the area of non-destructive testing. In this presentation, I will talk about the study of structural defect detection and reconstruction using ultrasonic guided waves and try to help audiences realize how machine learning algorithms can improve the accuracy and efficiency of simulations for structural defect reconstructions.

个人简介:

Dr Dianzi Liu obtained his PhD sponsored by Overseas Research Scholarship (ORS) Scheme in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Leeds (UK) in 2009 and since 2014, he has worked as an Associate Professor and Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the School of Engineering at the University of East Anglia, UK. Dr Liu’s current research interests include Optimization Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Wave Computational Mechanics, Composite Structure. In recent three years, Dr Liu has published more than 35 papers and successfully been awarded research funding from China, EU, University Funds, Airbus, Jaguar Land Rover, Royal Society, etc. Dr Liu is the recipient of the runner-up prize in the ISSMO-Springer Prize competition in 2009 and recipients of Short-term Recruitment Program of Professional Scholars sponsored by various universities in China. He is also a Member of International Society for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization (ISSMO) and Member of Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
