Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andrés Cura Hochbaum from Technical University of Berlin (TBU) will give a seminar about the research activities at the Department of Dynamics of Maritime Systems, Technical University of Berlin.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andrés Cura Hochbaum is a German/Uruguayan naval architect born 1958 in Montevideo, Uruguay. He is the Chair of the Department of Dynamics of Maritime Systems of Technical University of Berlin. He has written dozens of scientific publications and has led many research projects in the fields of Computational Fluid Dynamics, Seakeeping and Manoeuvring of Ships since 1993. Prof. Cura has been chairman of the Manoeuvring Committee of the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC) for two periods (2005-2011) and is a member of the board council of the German Society of Naval Architects (STG).
Prof. Cura Hochbaum has served as Head of the Department “Seakeeping and Manoeuvring” and member of the board at the Hamburg Ship Model Basin (HSVA), Head of the Department “Numerical Simulation” and member of the board at the Potsdam Model Basin (SVA), Head of the Manoeuvring Group at HSVA, Project manager and researcher in the “Seakeeping and Manoeuvring” Department at HSVA, Project Manager and researcher in the CFD Department at HSVA. He got his Doctoral Degree with Summa Cum Laude on the development of a RANS code for ship flow simulations from the “Institut für Schiffbau” of the University of Hamburg.
